BPS SHOW 2001 |
|||
| November, 20th. Our National
Show is once again behind us. Five days of hard work. Indeed:
while the show only takes place during the week-end, the construction
already starts the Wednesday before, collecting all the equipment, and
ends the next Monday in the afternoon, when all the material is stored
again until the next show.
It si clear that during the entire build-up phase of the show, en during the dismantling after the show, more hands are required than just those of the 5 council members. Luckily, we could count on a good number of volunteers. Many hands make light work, as we say in Belgium. On top of this, months of preparation have preceeded the show, such as contacting the sponsors, preparing the catalogue, organizing the "tombola", etc... |

More than 100 large and small aviaries need to
be build. Because of some misfortune we could not access our
exposition room yet and we had to cope with what we had. The small
aviaries were build up in the adjacent room. e

| De larger aviaries had to be put together in the parking. Luckily the weather was dry (but cold!). Later in the day, when our room was freed up, everything could be moved inside. Then the challenge was to once again come up with a new layout for the whole setup - people do not want to seem the same thing year after year. The pictures beneath speak for themselves and show some of the moments during the whole setup of the show. | |||

| When the whole setup is ready, we can finally put the birds in the cages and aviaries. Then, on Saturday morning, the show opens at 10 am. But first the birds have to be inspected and first and second of each continent chosen, as well as the be4st bird of the show. This is done by professionals between 8 and 10 am. At this point in time no one else is allowed to enter the room. | |||
